What is Blackjack?
Blackjack is one of the most well-known card games in the world, where players and the dealer compete to see who can get closest to 21. Unlike games that rely purely on luck, Blackjack is one where strategy, decision-making, and thinking ahead have a real impact on your results.
At the start of each round, each player and the dealer are dealt two cards. Your goal is to get your total as close to 21 as possible without going over. Going over 21 is a "Bust" and you lose that round. You win if your total is closer to 21 than the dealer's, or if the dealer Busts.
At tgy98, Blackjack includes Live Blackjack tables where you play face-to-face with real dealers, so you get the full casino feel from home.
Card Values and Basic Rules
| Card | Value | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 2 – 10 | Face value | Always exact, regardless of situation |
| J · Q · K | 10 points | All face cards |
| Ace (A) | 1 or 11 | Player decides based on their hand |
| Blackjack | Ace + 10-value | Pays 3:2 when dealt as the first 2 cards |
The dealer must draw when holding 16 or below, and must stand at 17 or above. Understanding this rule helps players make better strategic decisions.
Hit
Request an additional card — used to increase your current total.
StandStand
Keep your current total without drawing — used when you have a strong hand.
ProtectionDouble Down

Big RewardSplit
When you have two identical cards, split them into two separate hands — doubles your chances.
Double OpportunityBlackjack Strategy Basics
Basic Strategy is a fixed strategy chart that guides you to the best decision based on the dealer's visible card and your own hand.
Hard Hand Strategy
A Hard Hand is a hand with no Ace, or one where the Ace can only count as 1 to avoid busting.
- Hand total 8 or below — always Hit
- Total 9 — Double Down if dealer shows 3–6
- Total 10–11 — Double Down if dealer shows 2–9
- Total 12–16 — Hit if dealer shows 7 or above; Stand if dealer shows 2–6
- Total 17 or above — Stand (drawing risks a bust)
Soft Hand Strategy
A Soft Hand contains an Ace counted as 11, which gives you flexibility since you cannot bust on the next draw.
- Ace + 2 or 3 — Double if dealer shows 5–6; otherwise Hit
- Ace + 4 or 5 — Double if dealer shows 4–6; otherwise Hit
- Ace + 6 — Double if dealer shows 3–6; otherwise Hit
- Ace + 7 — Double if dealer shows 3–6; Stand if dealer shows 2, 7, or 8; Hit if dealer shows 9, 10, or A
- Ace + 8 or above — Stand (your total is already strong)
Pair Split Strategy
- Pair of Aces — always Split
- Pair of 8s — always Split (16 is the worst total to hold)
- Pair of 10s — never Split (20 is a strong hand)
- Pair of 5s — Double Down instead of Split
- 2, 3, 7 — Split if dealer shows 2–7
- 4 — Split only if dealer shows 5–6
- 6 — Split if dealer shows 2–6
- 9 — Split unless dealer shows 7, 10, or Ace
Things Good Players Should Know

- Fearing a bust and refusing to Hit when needed will cost you more in the long run
- If you've been playing a long time and feel tired, take a break — tired minds make poor decisions
- Avoid sitting at the same table for too long; switch tables to avoid going on tilt
- Learn Basic Strategy before you play — decisions become faster and more accurate
